Global Leader in Math Education Accelerates Canadian Expansion with Milestone 100th Location Opening in December

Owned by Egyptian Immigrants Inspired by Their Daughter, a Former Mathnasium Instructor and Future Educator

ORANGEVILLE, ON —Mathnasium Learning Centres, an internationally known franchise with more than 1,100 math learning centres worldwide, proudly announces a major milestone: the opening of its 100th Canadian centre in Orangeville, Ontario. Located at 520 Alder Street, Unit #3, the new Mathnasium location will begin transforming young lives on December 1, 2024. A grand opening celebration planned for early next year will celebrate this achievement and introduce local residents to Mathnasium’s mission to empower students across Canada with the skills and confidence they need to excel in math.

Meet the Owners

The 100th Mathnasium centre in Ontario is led by the Moustafa family, a dedicated husband-and-wife team: Hossam Moustafa, a pharmacist with nearly 40 years of experience, and Rania Khairalla, a medical office administrator.

The family immigrated from Egypt in 2003 and was introduced to Mathnasium by their daughter, Hana, an aspiring teacher and York University student. Hana, along with her sister, spent nearly four years instructing at Mathnasium of Mississauga.

Inspired by the positive impact of their daughters' work, Hossam and Rania recognized an opportunity to create a meaningful legacy together, leveraging their family’s combined expertise to benefit children across their community.

Mathnasium’s Growing Canadian Footprint

This milestone marks just the beginning of Mathnasium’s expansion in the Canadian market, with a goal to open 25 additional locations across Canada by 2027.

Recent studies from PISA (The Program for International Student Assessment), an international exam organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), show a significant decline in math performance since the test began in 2000. The most recent data, from the 2022 exam, reveals a 15-point drop in overall math scores, highlighting a growing need for additional support in mathematics within communities.

This milestone announcement follows previous projections for international growth, with Mathnasium expecting to increase its presence by more than 25% in 2024 compared to the previous year.
